Forgiveness and
Love: The True Essence of Christmas
As December
approaches, the Yuletide season can be felt in the air. There is a long
preparation for the prestigious occasion, because in the last quarter of the
year, people are busy thinking of the best present they could offer to their
loved ones. Some are decorating their Christmas tree. Others are trying to be
creative in creative in hanging their Christmas lights and lanterns. And you
can hear Christmas carols everywhere. And to top this great event, Christmas
would be less than complete without the famous tradition which is called
“Simbang Gabi”. All of these Christmas activities play a significant role in
our society. However, this question needs to be justified. Do we really
celebrate Christmas with the real essence?
Christmas is
not merely preparing gifts, food, decorating a Christmas tree and other symbols
of Christmas. Christmas should not be focused on materials alone, but rather it
must be done with deeper sense and meaning. In as much that we are honoring,
celebrating, and glorifying the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. We must be
knowledgeable enough of the true essence of the celebration.
Christmas must
be done with the spirit of forgiveness and love. These two words must go along
most especially this season and even beyond. Forgiving someone’s mess is hard
to do. It requires a lot of thinking before you finally decide. It is quite
difficult to forgive someone. However, these can be forgotten if we put in our
mind the true essence of it. As they say, once you forgive, definitely you
love, and once you love, definitely you will forgive. Forgiving and loving is
the ultimate present that we would offer to Jesus Christ this Christmas Season.
Besides it will lighten our burden and it will establish some sort of glad
feeling. God has created us, therefore, we must learn to forget the shadow of
the past and let love and forgiveness reign in our humble heart. We must adopt Forget + Forgive = Love and Peace, and
I assured that no single violent action could be done and our nation would
probably become peaceful, loving, united, and a wonderful place to live in.
Now, why don’t
we start the year by bearing good behavior and great values that will bring
forth the best future. Forgiveness and love must be the center of Christmas
Season. If you are still in the dark about forgiving, I dare you to come out,
in the open, let the fire of love and forgiveness shine up our nation.
Merry Christmas
and may the essence of Christmas, forgiveness
and love shower upon us.
